Dayton: A Peace Process (DAPP)Dayton: A Peace Process (DAPP) is an outgrowth of the Dayton Peace Accords effort and will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords during October and November 2005. DAPP will offer events focused on cultural, educational and religious activities that bring together individuals from around the world. An extensive policy initiative will explore issues around the peace process. The Dayton Peace Accords represented one of the most important international endeavors for peace in a conflict that had global implications. Nearly a decade after the signing of the Peace Accords, the Dayton community is committed to exploring ways to celebrate peace, both regionally and internationally. During the past ten years, representatives from the Miami Valley have been involved in the Dayton Peace Accords effort. DAPP is an outgrowth of, and response to, the Dayton Peace Accords. It represents a significant way in which the Dayton community can continue to celebrate and highlight its involvement in bringing together the diverse ethnic and racial groups of the Balkans region.
Objective: To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords and to recognize the importance of peacemaking. Strategies to achieve objective:
Founding Groups: Dayton Council on World Affairs, Central State University, City of Dayton, Sinclair Community College, University of Dayton, Wright State University, Wright Memorial Chapter of the Air Force Association, Dayton Daily News, Friendship Force, Sister Cities, as well as other Dayton-based and Miami Valley organizations. DAPP operates under the umbrella organization – the Dayton Council on World Affairs.
